David Hayton LLD (Cantab) TEP(Hon) was a Judge of the Caribbean Court of Justice from its inception in 2005 to July 2019, having started his legal career as a lecturer at Sheffield University in 1966 and as a Lincoln’s Inn barrister in 1970, becoming a Bencher thereof in 2005.

He has been a Fellow of Jesus College Cambridge, Professor of Law at King’s College, London and a part-time judge in London and Nassau.

He headed the UK delegation to the Hague Conferences on Private International Law for the Trusts Convention and the Succession Convention.

He has authored or edited fifteen books concerning property, trusts, tax or succession, including the authoritative Underhill & Hayton on Trusts.

He is a legal consultant with Lennox Paton, Nassau.
